Again, it is not the name of a resort, hotel, or homestay in Sakleshpura but a unique phenomenon of nature on the hills of Sakleshpura and a point of geographical significance.
Ridge Point is easy to miss while in Sakleshpura if you are not specifically looking for it. It is right on the main road, towards the left on State Highway No. 85. But given, the riveting Sakleshpura’s greenery, it is all likely that one may miss the Ridge Point. To be more specific, the Ridge Point is located on the road that leads to Kukke Subrahmanya, and Bisle Ghat viewpoint, precisely 5 kms from viewpoint, in a village called Mankanahalli.
Now if you still wondering about Ridge Point’s speciality, then here it is. It is simply a geographical point that divides the rainwater. Interesting, isn’t it? Infact, it is a point from where rainwater flows in opposite directions. Rainwater that falls towards the western side of the ridge flows into the Netravathi and Sharavathi rivers before meeting the Arabian Sea., While the water that falls towards the eastern side of the ridge flows eastwards, joining the Hemavathy and the Kaveri rivers, before meeting Bay of Bengal. A stone marker marks the spot and has been geographically surveyed and determined to be a point. It is believed that British surveyors installed the original stone marker.
