Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has made a few promises in the Budget for Mysuru, his home district. With a view of the overall development of Chamundi Hills, steps have been taken to set up the Chamundeshwari Development Authority and a film city for Mysuru.
However, in addition to all this, some of the long-pending proposals were expected to be approved in this year’s Budget. The people of Mysuru are a little upset that it has not been fulfilled this time too.
The proposal to declare Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) as the Bruhat Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has not been accepted. Also, no grant has been given to the Music University in Mysore. The group housing project, which was supposed to be implemented by the Mysuru Development Authority(MUDA), has not been approved. There is no attempt to set up an All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Hospital which was supposed to be set up in Mysuru. There was a clamour for the formation of the Dasara Authority for a long time which has not been fulfilled. Moreover, the demand for setting up of a new industrial zone to encourage industries in Mysuru has not been fulfilled.
Film City to see light of the day?
Rebel Star Ambareesh’s dream was to start a film city in Mysuru. Similarly, when Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister, he had announced in the Budget that a film city would be built in Mysuru in 2015-16 itself. However, due to the changed political scenario, CM Kumaraswamy had expressed his willingness to make a film city in Ramanagara. “During the last BJP Government, there was an idea to make the film city in Bengaluru. Now, the confusion over where to make the film city has come to an end and the budget has given a green signal to build the film in Mysuru itself in private partnership.
