Bengaluru: The Shivajinagar Police has arrested the accused who made a hoax call that there is a bomb in Azam Masjid (Mosque) of Shivajinagar in the city.
The accused arrested was identified as Syed Muhammad Anwar (37) from Maharashtra. He, who had come to Bengaluru on July 4, was asking for donations from mosques in the name of madrasa. Thus, Syed, who had received a donation near Azam Masjid behind Russell Market in Shivajinagar, asked for permission to sleep in the mosque at night. For this, the staff said, he is not allowed to sleep in the mosque.
Fuming over this, he went to the Majestic and boarded the Kurnool bus. As the bus was crossing Devanahalli, Syed called 112 and made a hoax call saying that a bomb had been planted in the mosque. When the police rushed to the spot and checked, there was no bomb. A case has been registered against the accused for making a hoax call.
