Bengaluru: As many as 300 Amarnath pilgrims from Karnataka are stranded in Jammu and Kashmir following heavy rains. The road connectivity too has been suspended.
It has been raining heavily in Jammu Kashmir for the past three days with bridges, dams, and roads inundated as rivers are raging. About 300 Kannadigas part of the Amarnath pilgrims are now stranded.
Karnataka Government has appointed Revenue Department Chief Secretary Rashmi as the Nodal Officer to bring these stranded Kannadigas back home. The officials are in constant touch with the officials in Jammu and Kashmir and plans are reportedly onto airlift stranded Kannadigas. Karnataka Government is also gathering more information on the numbers of stranded people.
Speaking to mediapersons, Minister H. K. Patil said that the accommodation has been provided for Kannadigas at Panchtarani camp and other arrangements too are made.
