One of the most eagerly awaited matches in wrestling was Bray Wyatt’s return to WWE at Extreme Rules in October 2022. He hasn’t fought anyone since the Royal Rumble, which was his debut match in professional wrestling.
Wyatt has actually been absent from the WWE since February. During the build-up to a potential WrestleMania showdown with Bobby Lashley, The Eater of the World vanished.
Since his last appearance on RAW or SmackDown, Wyatt has been absent for over five months. After the 2023 WWE Draught, he became a free agent. So who should he attack when he returns?
Here are four people who Wyatt might torment when he rejoins the WWE.
1. Bray Wyatt was the run of Roman Reign’s first victim
Bray Wyatt defeated Braun Strowman to win the Universal Championship in the summer of 2020. Roman Reigns, who had taken a break, reappeared after the match and attacked both men. A week after winning it, he has held the title ever since.
The term “anyone but you, Roman” was first used during a former argument between the two. It mirrored how many supporters felt during The Big Dog’s early unrelenting drives.
Wyatt can argue that he let Roman Reigns go on his power trip and now he’s returning to change the rules. The two have a long history together that can be built upon. Wyatt would need to prevail this time, though. It’s also the third anniversary of the contest that gave Reigns his title.
2. Prior to the title bout, Cody Rhodes requires a main-event calibre foe
Bray Wyatt would have a lot of history to work with if he pursues The American Nightmare because of Cody Rhodes’ extensive career in the industry.
Both are main-event level performers, but to carry interesting feuds, they need strong rivals. Uncle Howdy’s participation and ambiguity caused Wyatt’s angles to be unusual because Howdy’s motives weren’t clearly defined.
It’s interesting to note that Rhodes was Wyatt’s pro and mentor when he competed in NXT under the name Husky Harris. Rhodes didn’t assist him and only cared about his advancement, which The Eater of Worlds could use against him. To make it work, both stars just need competing promotions.
3. Bray Wyatt and Finn Balor have unresolved business
After finishing his fight for the World Heavyweight Championship, Finn Balor will require a new feud. If the Judgement Day splits up, he’ll have enough to do.
Wyatt and Balor have a long-standing relationship. Wyatt was scheduled to take on The Demon, but he was unable to do so because of an unidentified ailment. The two might rekindle their conflict and reveal their supernatural personas.
The Fiend’s feud is most effective when there is a past to draw from. They might restart the angle in anticipation of Wyatt’s probable return since the match didn’t provide a satisfactory conclusion to it.
4. Edge is a WWE Hall of Famer
Since both The Eater of Worlds and The Rated-R Superstar resumed to active status in WWE, they haven’t run across each other. Following a neck ailment that kept him out of the ring since 2011, Edge made a comeback. Over the past three years, Wyatt has gone in and out of the WWE.
Edge has some dark sides to him, and Wyatt might easily capitalise on those darker tendencies. He might add that the Hall of Famer’s days as a working wrestler are numbered.
The two may engage in a mic duel, with the audience supporting whoever they decide. It might make for a compelling main event without a title.
