72 Hoorain, Directed by National Award winner Sanjay Puran Singh, was released on July 7. The picture failed to wow the audience and bombed at the box office. After a poor showing on Sunday, it appears that Monday Blues hit the film hard, as it failed to perform on even Day 4. It couldn’t even go close to Rs. 50 Lakh.
According to early estimates, 72 Hoorain only generated Rs. 25 Lakh on Day 4 and struggled to attract an audience. 72 Hoorain failed to even cross Rs. 500,000 on its first day, collecting Rs 0.35 Crore. On Day 2, the film performed better, earning Rs 0.45 Crore. In the Hindi belt, the film had an overall occupancy of 11.60 per cent. On Day 3, the film only earned Rs. 0.47 Crore. The film’s total earnings are Rs 1.26 Crore.
72 Hoorain follows Bilal and Hakim as they are duped into believing that if they sacrifice their lives for the sake of Allah, they will be rewarded with 72 beautiful virgins in heaven. However, following their terror strike in Mumbai, they are astounded to find not a single lovely virgin. Thej film found itself in hot water ahead of its release as the Central Board of Film Certification purportedly refused to distribute its trailer.
Following this, Ashoke Pandit issued a clarification through video message on Instagram. “Now, the trailer of said film is under due process which was applied to CBFC on 19-6-2023 and examined in accordance with the Guidelines issued under Section 5B(2) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952,” he stated while sharing the video. Under intimation, the applicant was asked for the necessary documentary submissions, and upon receipt of the same, certification was given subject to revisions. On June 27, a show cause notice conveying the amendments was issued to the applicant/filmmaker, and the same is awaiting the applicant’s response/compliance.
