Vijayapura: BJP State Vice President B. Y. Vijayendra has accused the Congress of repeatedly insulting the leaders of Veerashaiva Lingayat community and has been trying to sow the seed of hatred between the community.
Addressing mediapersons while campaigning for BJP candidates, S. K. Bellubbi Kolhar Town of Basavanabagewadi Assembly constituency on April 24 he said that it was the Congress which tried to divide Veerashaiva and Lingayats.
“Till date, the Congress is dreaming to divide the community for their political mileage, but their evil idea will not materialise as the people have realised the ill-intentions of the Congress. The BJP will never allow it to happen,” he said.
Referring to the visit of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to Kudalasangama on April 23, Vijayendra said that the former had visited the holy place only to repent for his mistakes. He exuded confidence of the BJP winning around 140 seats in the coming elections with the support of Veerashaiva-Lingayat community.
Claiming that not just Veerashaiva-Lingayats, but even Dalits and Minorities are showing inclination towards the BJP, he said that the people have made up their mind to bring the BJP Government back to power and strengthen the hands of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Earlier, Vijayendra participated in the road show where hundreds of party workers and supporters joined him.
