Tumakuru: Koratagere Constituency MLA and Former DCM Dr. G. Parameshwara, who was injured due to stone pelting during the election campaign, has recovered and the doctor has advised him to rest for a day. On the other hand, Former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy has commented on the stone pelting case and criticised it as a drama. An angry Parameshwar as a retort shot back saying it is HDK who is an expert artiste.
Some miscreants have pelted stones for a political purpose. I have been in politics for 35 years. I have few enemies. I will present the work I have done to the people and ask for their vote. If there is hatred, then don’t do this, he appealed to miscreants who threw stones.
Former DCM Dr. G. Parameshwara said that I have informed the Superintendent of Police to investigate the matter. He spoke about the stone pelting incident during the campaign in Koratagere Constituency and at a press conference organised on April 29 at Siddhartha Nagara residence of his on the outskirts of the city.
Reacting to Kumaraswamy’s statement that Parameshwara is doing drama, he said that he is an expert drama artiste in the entire state. I am the one who took the beating, and I know the pain. I don’t need drama. I go in front of people, and accept what they say. I lost twice and won four times. I know victory and defeat, and thus have experienced everything.
Around 500-1000 people had gathered near Koratagere Constituency Bhairenahalli Cross on April 28 evening when I was engaged in campaigning. The activists were lifting me on their shoulders and dancing. At that time some people were throwing flowers at me. It was as if something fell on my head. I didn’t know then, and I started bleeding immediately. From there I was taken to Akkirampur Primary Health Centre and treated, he said. He informed that the wound is one and a half inches deep and has been treated.
A similar incident happened in 1999 as well. There was an attempt to stab me. Parameshwara said that the incident took place during the celebration of winning the election, and the police should investigate the stone pelting case. We can’t make assumptions. There is a reaction to everything. No one should get nervous. I don’t think I needed security. Of course I have no fear, he said and added that he will face any problem.
The doctor has asked me to rest for another day. D. K. Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah, Kharge and all my friends have called and inquired about health. I have no fear. I am healthy, he said.
He said that he will start election campaign from Sunday April 30. I appeal to voters and will accept whatever verdict you give. Elections should be held peacefully in Koratagere Constituency, he said and added that I don’t want any police security.
Meanwhile Kumaraswamy has asked for investigation into who pelted the stone. There is no stone peltera in our party. We should ask whether the BJP pelted stones, he retorted.
Parameshwar is saying that nothing has been done to him and on TV we see splash of blood. These dramas are being played out by national parties, added Kumaraswamy.
Former CM HDK asserted that both the parties are in a competition to create new drama every day due to the fear of defeat.
