Bengaluru: In the wake of the state Assembly elections, the campaigning of political parties is going strong. Meanwhile, BJP’s Union Cabinet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi had camped in the state on April 29. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in the state early in the morning on April 29, held public meetings in Bidar, Vijayapura and Belagavi Districts and also a road show in Bengaluru North Assembly constituency at around 5.30 pm.
Modi had flew into the city from Belagavi around 5.00 pm after addressing his third public meeting in the state. Modi undertook road show in a specially designed vehicle, sporting a saffron cap. He received a roaring response with massive crowd on the either side of the road. Flowers and garlands were showered on him.
Modi was flanked by Bangalore North MP D. V. Sadananda Gowda and BJP MLC C. Narayanaswamy.
However, most of the roads in the capital Bengaluru were blocked from morning itself owing to Prime Minister’s visit.
Due to this, the general public including patients were upset. Indignant words were also heard that ‘why are you bothering us for your election campaign’. Traffic restriction was imposed near East West Junction. The police were instructing the motorists who came there to travel on the alternate road. A barricade was also installed in the middle of the road. At the same time, an ambulance too arrived there and was stopped by the police. He too was suggested to travel by another route without giving way. Then the driver told the police that there was a patient in the ambulance. Post that the police removed the barricade and allowed the ambulance to go immediately.
At the same time, some bikers too wanted to sneak behind the ambulance but were stopped. The bikers expressed their anger against the police. Later, the police gave permission to move on the same route after the public expressed their outrage.
In the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival, the road was blocked from Nice Road to Sumanahalli. Due to this, the passengers were waiting on the road since morning. In the end, there was an incident where the public scrambled to go back home. Strong objections were heard. Also, the women went to create a ruckus near Sumanahalli Junction after blocking the bus coming through the route. ‘Where should we go?’, they were seen arguing the police.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security also affected a marriage party too. The incident took place on Sunkadakatte Road when the police stopped the married man who was going to the convention hall. There was a wedding ceremony of one Rudresh at Akshay Kalyana Mandap on Sunkadakatte Road. In this background, Rudresh and his family were on the way to Kalyana Mantapa and that is when the police stopped them. Marriage party convinced them that there was a wedding. Thus, they were allowed to go. There was an altercation with the police for sometime for stopping them in the beginning.
An ambulance was standing still on Bharatnagar Road for about 5 minutes. Traffic jams were an inevitable problem. It is said that there was a pregnant woman in the ambulance and the police allegedly did not let her go even though she said she was in pain. There was also public outrage against this inhumane act. A young man had brought the pregnant woman in a car. It is said that the police did not show mercy no matter how much they urged to be left to go. The dup were seen in deep distress.
Meanwhile, a barricade was put up near Shrigandada Kaval Circle, despite patrolling four roads to scan the city. Due to this, the patients were not only agitated but also angry. There was also a verbal skirmish between the public and police.
The family members, including the bride had a lot of trouble in going ahead with the marriage that was scheduled at the Kalyana Mantapa near Sunkadakatte. Even the roads were blocked. Finally, the family brought the bride to the wedding house on a scooter. The police stopped the scooter also. At the same time they saw the media camera turned towards them and thus the duo was allowed him to go to the convention hall. There was a traffic jam at the Magadi Road Nice Junction as well.
All in all, public suffered and and the traffic police struggled to clear the hurdle.
