Imagine this: You are sitting on a boat amidst a vast lake, trying to make sense of everything about your life. You see the sunshine as it greets the water, cherishing the beauty of the view in front of you. And the best part? – you are traveling alone.
Going out with a bunch of friends is all cool until you really see the true value of solitude. New experiences, new people, and new places: that’s what solo travel is about. As women, we are often told not to travel alone. However, the truth is, women can have a thrilling experience through solo travel like anyone else!
Venturing on our own to face new challenges is empowering in itself. It pushes us beyond our boundaries to explore different cultures and places from all walks of life. So let’s break free from societal constraints and embrace the memories that will last for a lifetime.
Here are five different tips that will be helpful for every female solo- traveler:
Face your fears
Every person who hasn’t traveled alone might stumble across thoughts such as ‘How do I travel alone? Will I be safe? It’s too challenging to travel alone. What if I mess up?’
The answer to these questions: Battle your fears and embrace them.
It’s true that safety becomes the first priority as you are traveling alone. One should plan ahead of time and let your family or friends know about the travel plan. This will keep you comfortable throughout your trip. You might as well share your location and text wherever you are going beforehand. Avoid going to any shady places and keep safety precautions in mind. Let’s face it, it’s just a vacation and not a math test!
Accomadation and Transportation
It’s extremely important to check for the mode of transportation and accommodation before you plan your trip. You should be able to map the nearby places that you would wish to explore and make sensible decisions about your stay. One can look out for Google reviews and tons of hostels that are women-friendly. Moreover, have alternatives ready if you are not satisfied with the place, keeping in mind factors such as cost, quality, distance from your travel destination, etc.
Avoid overpacking
I know that cute yellow dress that’s lying in your wardrobe is pretty, but if it’s taking up too much space in your bag, I think it’s time to leave it right there. Make sure that you prepare a traveling checklist to add all essentials to help you during your journey. Solo travel can be surely fun, but carrying a heavy suitcase? Not so much fun. Again, do not overpack!
Schedule it the right way
It must be exciting to visit all the places at your favourite destination. But as travelers. we often forget that time is limited and it waits for none. It can be tempting to add that famous restaurant or hiking plan to your checklist for the same day. But sometimes, your trip can be longer than expected, so it’s safe to leave sometime to breathe.
Enjoy your own company
We often tend to make plans with others rather than enjoy them on our own. Traveling solo can get you one step closer to your true self, leaving you in awe of things that you never knew existed. So book those tickets, and imagine yourself hiking up that mountain. And don’t worry if you get lost (not literally) amidst the journey. You might end up finding yourself.
For life, as Helen Keller once stated, is either a daring adventure or it is nothing at all.
