Davanagere: Davanagere South Assembly constituency is currently turning into a high voltage constituency. A direct fight is going on here between sitting MLA Shamanur Shivshankarappa and BJP amid allegation that the development is stunted in Davanagere South Constituency.
In this high voltage constituency, minority votes are decisive for victory. There are ten Muslim colonies in this part namely Azad Nagar, Basha Nagar, Meheboob Nagar, and Mustafa Nagar among others where Muslim voters feel that development is not visible.

However, they have given priority to road bridge, sewerage and drinking water. He said that he promised further development if he wins this time. There are no schools, no hospitals and the people of that area have come to the heart of Davanagere for treatment. The people of this area are suffering a lot due to the smoke coming out from the Mandakki kilns.
One high-tech Government Hospital is needed in Davanagere South constituency. Hi-tech schools and colleges are needed as children are being deprived of education in this constituency..The Davanagere North constituency has developed a lot. But in South Constituency there is a need for roads, under ground drainages, footpath, and LED street lights. Also, some roads are narrow and need to be widened according to local opinion.
