Bengaluru: The Congress Manifesto 2023 called Sarva Janangada Shanthiya Thota (Peaceful Garden for all Communities) on May 2 promised in its manifesto for the May 10 Assembly elections to repeal all unjust laws and anti-people laws passed by the BJP Government in Karnataka within one year of coming to power in the state.
AICC President and Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjuna Kharge, AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, KPCC President D. K. Shivakumar, Assembly Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah, Legislative Council Opposition Leader B. K. Hariprasad and Manifesto Committee Chairman G. Parameshwar were part of the manifesto launch at a private hotel in Bengaluru.
The Congress party has already revealed their five major poll promises and were all eyes on the Bengaluru constituencies, while the BJP, Congress and JD (S) have made huge promises to dominate here. Among these, the Congress, which released its manifesto on May 2, has given many promises to the people of the city.
There are many aspects in the Congress manifesto, including the solution to the never ending waste disposal problem in Bengaluru and plans to provide facilities for electricity, drainage, housing, transport all under one roof and the extension of Namma Metro to Narsapur.
The Congress party has prioritised many basic facilities including drinking water, road, and transport. AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, KPCC President D. K. Shivakumar, Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah have said that they have released a manifesto that they will fulfill all these promises as soon as they come to power.
The points announced by the Congress for Bengaluru are a comprehensive legislation will be enacted for the management of BBMP. This will bring water, sewerage, transport, housing, power and development authorities under one platform. North-South, South-East long elevated flyovers and connecting roads will be constructed.
Mahan Bangalore Samsthan (Mega Bengaluru Planning Committe) – a move to restore Bengaluru’s lost glory through efficient governance. For that, the Congress said that it will create a city governance system comprising experts from various fields, businessmen, environmental experts and economic experts.
Implementation of the revised Comprehensive Plan 2042 for a sustainable and planned Bengaluru for all residents. Unified system for improvement, management of basic facilities of the city, and special priority for development of GMRDA areas.
Endeavour to complete pending metro phases within one year of coming into power and phase 3 and 4 projects within the next 5 years, a move to extend the metro railway up to the industrial hub of Vasant Narasapura in Tumakuru has been outlaid.
Separate scientific plan for solid waste management and establishment of waste management and recycling units, one for every ten wards to reduce the amount of waste generated from garbage, implementation of e-rickshaws to enable connectivity across the city, implementation of a rapid programme for cleanliness and revival of calls in Bangalore has been planned too.
Preparation of the blue map for water sports in the next 5 years, measures for 100 percent supply of treated waste water and supply of reused water for other uses than drinking and an international conference center will be constructed near Kempegowda Airport in Bengaluru has been assured.
