Mangaluru: The BJP-led state government in Karnataka and at the Centre is being accused of dismantling the federal structure of India’s democracy by creating divisions within society that could lead to chaos, hatred, and a fragmented society. This danger is seen as imminent and can only be prevented if voters choose to support the Congress party in the upcoming Karnataka elections on May 10, said Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
Gehlot held a press conference where he accused BJP leaders of deceiving the public by promising to pass the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and urged them to first implement a Uniform Civil Code law in the states they hold power. Gehlot predicted that the BJP Government in Karnataka, which he referred to as a “40 percent commission Government,” would fall, and a Congress-led government would take over. He affirmed that Congress is dedicated to implementing its pre-election guarantee schemes in its first cabinet.
Gehlot further said that the pro-people guarantee schemes announced by the Congress in Karnataka have been met with silence by the BJP leaders. He criticised the BJP for buying MLAs and holding onto power and added that the people of Karnataka would teach them a lesson in the upcoming elections.
Gehlot emphasised that social security is the ideology of the Congress party and that only fascist forces criticise the Congress government.
In addition, Gehlot criticised the BJP for using religion for selfish purposes and doing politics in the name of Lord Rama. He averred that organisations should not be built in the name of God and used for political gain.
The press conference was attended by several Congress leaders, including AICC Observer Dr. Ajay Kumar, Charan Singh Sapra, Kasaragod MP Rajamohan Unnittan, Rajasthan Rajya Sabha Member Neeraj Dange, Former MLA J. R. Lobo, District Congress President Harish Kumar, and party leaders J. A. Bawa and Suresh Ballal.
