Bengaluru: The Congress party made a significant announcement on May 2 by including the banning of the “terror organisation” Bajrang Dal in its Manifesto. This has stirred up a lot of controversy, with everyone from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party colleagues to the lowest-ranking members of the party using this point to launch attacks against the Congress party.
The BJP and its affiliated groups see the Congress party’s Manifesto announcement as an opportunity to portray Congress as an anti-Hindu political party. The Congress released its Manifesto on May 2, declaring that all organisations that support terrorist activities, including Bajrang Dal, would be banned. BJP leaders and Hindu activists expressed their outrage on social media, trending “Nanu Bajarangi” and campaigning against the Congress Party. Key political figures, such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Basavaraj Bommai, RS Leader B. L Santosh, and Sri Ram Sena Chief Pramod Muthalik have publicly criticised the Congress party in response to its Manifesto announcement.
Bajrang Dal leaders in the state are reacting with laughter to the Congress party’s Manifesto, feeling vindicated by its mention that Bajrang Dal will be banned if Congress comes to power. They have long held the belief that Congress is an anti-Hindu party, while their own core values align with promoting Hindu unity and social justice.
In response, the Bajrang Dal plans to hold protests and demonstrations across the state in the next few days leading up to the elections.
The Bajrang Dal leaders have also stated that they plan to expand their campaign to other states in order to spread the message that the Congress party intends to take coercive actions against Hindu organisations. They have criticised the Congress party for pairing Bajrang Dal with the PFI, which they consider to be an outright terror outfit.
The Bajrang Dal plans to include the ‘ban factor’ in its door-to-door campaign and send its cadres to every Hindu household in the state to deliver this message within the next 5-6 days. They assert that the Bajrang Dal serves as the watchdog of Hindu society and that its core system works towards Hindu unity and social justice.
It seems that the BJP and its leaders are using the “Nanobba Bajrangi” campaign as a way to show solidarity with the Bajrang Dal and to portray the Congress party as anti-Hindu. They are using social media as a platform to spread their message and gain support from the public. It remains to be seen how effective this campaign will be in influencing voters in the upcoming elections.
