Udupi: On May 2, the Congress revealed its party Manifesto which included a proposal to ban the right-wing group, Bajrang Dal. However, this announcement did not sit well with Union Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje, and other leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
During a media briefing after the manifesto was released, Shobha Karandlaje accused the Congress of demonstrating their anti-Hindu position once again.
Shobha Karandlaje strongly condemned the Congress party’s proposed manifesto to ban the Bajrang Dal. She suggested that the Congress party only mentioned the PFI in its manifesto to drag the Bajrang Dal into the matter.
A paragraph from the Congress manifesto said, “The Congress Party is committed to take firm and decisive action against individuals and organisations spreading hatred amongst communities on grounds of caste or religion. We believe that law and Constitution is sacrosanct and cannot be violated by individuals and Organisations like Bajrang Dal, PFI or others promoting enmity or hatred, whether among majority or minority communities. We will take decisive action as per law including imposing a ban on any such organisations.”
Shobha pointed out that there is no comparison between the two groups, as the PFI has been involved in several terrorist activities, murder of Hindu activists, love jihad, and forced conversions of girls.
She further accused the Congress party of comparing the Bajrang Dal to the PFI, which she believes is a derogatory comparison. Shobha also accused the Congress party of giving the PFI a free hand during their time in power in the state.
Several BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, Narendra Modi, Tejasvi Surya and Pralhad Joshi, have also slammed the Congress party’s Manifesto for proposing a ban on the Bajrang Dal.
Meanwhile, Bajrang Dal leaders in Udupi protested the proposed ban by burning several copies of the Congress Manifesto.
