Bengaluru: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has warned the people of Karnataka that if they do not vote for the Congrss party, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s bulldozer tactics will come to haunt the southern state.
Speaking at a public rally in Aland, Kalaburagi District on May 3, Kharge criticised Yogi’s frequent visits to Karnataka, stating that he wears saintly clothes but instead of showing the good path of humanity, he instigates clashes between people. Kharge quoted Yogi’s statement, “Jo hamari baat nahi manenge, use bulldozer lagake nikal denge. Is desh mein nahin rah sakte” (Whoever doesn’t listen to us, we will get rid of them through the bulldozer, they can’t live in this country). Kharge cautioned that those who are foreigners should be asked to leave the country, not the natives. He urged people to vote for Congress, or else Yogi’s bulldozer will come to Karnataka.
Kharge further criticised Chief Minister Bommai, stating that he should beware of Modi ji and Amit Shah. He called the BJP Government a “40 per cent commission state Government” that has cheated the people of Karnataka. Kharge emphasised that the election is not only significant for Karnataka but also for the nation. He urged for a corruption-free state and criticised Modi’s claim of not taking bribes while sitting next to Bommai, who Kharge taunted should be asked for a 40 per cent commission.
Kharge also alleged that the BJP Government has neglected various development projects initiated by Congress, such as a Central University, Mega ESI Hospital, and highway projects. He criticised the Government for spending crores of money to inaugurate an already existing Bengaluru-Mysuru express corridor instead of developing the proposed highway projects. Kharge also reminded people of his contribution to the education and employment sector of Kalaburagi through Article 371(J).
