Bengaluru: With just a week left for the elections, the state Congress has drawn controversy by putting the decision to ban the Bajrang Dal in its manifesto. But now it is known that this matter was not decided under the leadership of Congress Manifesto Committee Chief Parameshwara.
The Congress was ready for the announcement that “organisations that carry out partisan activities will be banned”. There should be clarity in the matter of religious organisation and thus Siddaramaiah instructed that whatever religion it may be, let’s say it.
State Congress In-Charge Surjewala is said to have proposed the name by justifying Siddaramaiah’s stand. At the last moment, the Manifesto Committee, which agreed to his words, proposed the name of Bajrang Dal and PFI.
The Congress, which dragged controversy by showing ideological clarity, is now in trouble. So has Siddaramaiah’s move that there should be ideological clarity become the source of the Bajrang Dal controversy? A question has been raised whether Siddaramaiah and in Surjewala’s position has influenced the Parameshwar Committee, which had proposed the ban of religious organisations.
The Congress party is committed to take stern and decisive legal action against individuals and organisations who sow hatred and divide society in the name of religion and caste. Believing that the Constitution is sacred, we will not tolerate any violation of the provisions of the Constitution by any person, including Bajrang Dal and PFI, be it the majority or the minority. Therefore strong legal action will be taken including banning of such individuals and organisations, the Congress announced.
