Lately, two Congress leaders have made personal attacks towards leaders of the BJP. Joining the ranks of Mallikarjun Kharge and his son, Priyank Kharge, is Ramesh Babu, a Former Member of the Legislative Council.
During his recent speech, Ramesh Babu likened Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje to the character of Shoorpanakha from the Ramayana.
During a press conference on May 5 in Bengaluru, Shobha Karandlaje said that the Congress party has devised a scheme to cause disruptions during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow in the city. She claimed that Congress workers plan to operate ambulances during the roadshow, which could potentially create trouble during the roadshow.
Ramesh Babu countered Karandlaje’s accusations by alleging that the Minister possesses a skill for manipulation.
Ramesh Babu asserted that Shobha Karandlaje’s appointment as the election in-charge was due to her proficiency in manipulative tactics. He also said that, instead of being Shoorpanakha, Karandlaje should strive to follow the example of Sita.
Babu expressed his opinion that, in her capacity as a Union Minister, Karandlaje should counsel Prime Minister Modi to organise his roadshow in a manner that does not cause any trouble to the public.
The remark made by Babu about Karandlaje resembling Shoorpanakha is likely to provoke a negative reaction from her. Earlier, Junior Kharge faced backlash for his “nalaayak beta” comment about Prime Minister Modi.
Although Shobha hasn’t said anything about the comparison yet, it is expected that action could be taken against Babu for his remarks.
