The most prestigious and honoured profession on earth is Doctors and all other medical professions. Even when the whole world turns up and down, the world is in need of medical professionals. I think, they don’t get treated rightly most of the time.
Each and every professions have their own dignity and one should respect and value every profession. Even when the world saw the darkest side during Corona pandemic, the doctors and other medical professionals put their lives on line and served.
According to Indian Medical Association, 1342 doctor’s have died during the Corona second wave. The approximate count is still not found.
Doctors and the other medical professionals are called warriors for reasons. There are many doctors who are selfless, give all of their wealth and health to this profession. And yet they won’t get treated rightly.
Dr. Vandana Das, a intern doctor who was working at Kerala Government Hospital was stabbed by custodian patient and lost her life. Unfortunately even with the presence of police they couldn’t save her life.
Just imagine an accused brought by the police for examination, attacking and murdering you.
To become a doctor, it takes maximum of 5.5 years and more. Studying medicine is not at all easy. You give your everything and your time. Most of the time medico’s sacrifice all types of enjoyment to just to get a bachelor degree as huge money is invested for the studies and and also they want to make their parents proud. It takes half of their life time to become what they dreamed of becoming, then the incidents like this occurs and destroys one’s lives as if it’s nothing.
The recent incident of stabbing an intern doctor by an uncuffed custodian patient has shook doctors and is causing fear among other medical professionals. It’s a sad reality that a highly prestigious and honuored professionals like doctors and other medical professionals have to go through such horrible experience in their life time. What makes such incidents even more sad is that the so called name sake saviors who are supposed to save and protect our lives do not even care about it.
This is not the first time medical professionals are exposed to this. Everytime the incidents occur all they do is sending condolences. Due to the negligence of irresponsible people, one has to sacrifice their lives. It’s a government responsibility to ensure the safety of medical professionals. NMC should take initiative and should add guidelines. The Health Ministry should take this issue very seriously and should ensure safety and increase security of on-duty medical professionals.
