Bengaluru: Although women are under-represented in the political sphere, women are ahead of men in exercising their rights to vote. Girls are strong in 6 districts of the state.
In the Assembly elections held on May 10, women outnumbered men and came to the polling booths in large numbers to exercise their rights. It has been revealed from the statistics that women have voted more in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Ramanagara, Mandya and Chamarajanagara districts.
In six districts the number of men and women voted and here is the information about the margin of votes for both these categories. In Udupi – 45,755 margin (Male Voting – 3,86,361, Female Voting – 4,32,116), Dakshina Kannada – 35,589 (Male Voting – 6,61,368, Female Voting – 6,96,957), Kodagu – 3,333 (Male Voting – 1,68,843, Female Voting – 1,72,176), Ramanagara – 3,032 (Male Voting – 3,83,152, Female Voting – 3,86,184), Mandya – 2,822 (Male Voting – 6,46,227, Female Voting – 6,49,049) and Chamarajanagar – 487 (Male Voting – 3,50,738, Female Voting – 3,51,225).
