Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath said that BBMP is all prepared in many ways for the rainy season.
Speaking to the mediapersons, BBMP Chief Tushar Girinath said that the BBMP is ready for the rainy season. He said that the corporation’s engineers have been instructed to be careful about many areas where rainwater stagnates, including Hoskerehalli.
Earlier, a survey was also conducted by traffic police about stagnant rain water in Silicon City. It was identified that the stagnant flood water was there in 150 to 160 places within the capital. Now there are only 15 to 16 flood spots, he noted.
He said that immediate action has been taken to ensure that the flood water flows out safely too.
Cleaning of Rajkaluve has also taken place. Earlier, 60 to 70 millimeters of rain fall happened in Bengaluru city. Corporation officials have also made preparations accordingly. In addition, cutting of dry tree branches has also taken place, he said and added that the corporation staff is ready to perform the work so that the flood water does not stop during the rainy season.
The encroached evacuation drive has already been temporarily suspended. The encroachment clearance operation will be started again soon. A judicial injunction has been issued against the operation in four or five places, he informed.
He said that a request will be made to the court for its clearance.
In some places land is urgently needed for other works including roads. If there is no revenue land, the idea is to provide compensation to the people in such areas and use the land, he said.
He informed that encroachment of government land including Rajkaluve will be done in Manyata Tech Park, White Field, Hoodi, and K. R. Puram within the capital city.
