Bengaluru: Siddaramaiah and D. K. Shivakumar, who had promised the voters a `Guarantee Scheme’ during the elections, have now putforth their request with the High Command to give them the post of ‘Full Term CM’. However there is a news of 2:3 term for DKS and Siddaramiah, which the High Command and the leaders have agreed upon.
Although the High Command is trying to pacify both of them, both are adamant about making them the CM for the first term. The current curiosity is that Congress, which has given various schemes, will now give the scheme of `Full Term CM” to DKS or Siddaramaiah will be decided by May 17 evening. There are chances of Siddaramaiah getting the CM post, as he is having a good support from public and representatives. It is learned from sources that both the leaders have made a strong demand before AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge and demanded them to be given the title of CM.
It is said that Siddaramaiah is of the opinion that, “I do not agree with this formula of D. K. Shivakumar’s. All you have to do is make me a CM first. I am also ready for a deal and I have mentioned this earlier. If this is not possible then make me as CM for 5 years. Don’t create confusion by saying two or three years. It is not right to choose a CM in confusion and uncertainty. It also affects governance. Don’t ask me to withdraw from the CM race as this is my last election. I will not back down for any reason. Shivakumar will also get a chance. You have to tconvince DKS on this matter. There is no question that I will commit to DK Shivakumar demands.”
Meanwhile, it is said that Shivakumar I’d of the opinion that, “As I have brought the party to power as the President, I should be made the Chief Minister. On what guarantee should I accept the 50:50 formula? I know very well what is happening in Chattisgarh, Rajasthan. In Rajasthan, Sachin Pilot who agreed on the 50:50 formula did not get the authority. Rahul Gandhi himself had promised. But what is happening there now? Now Sachin Pilot himself is ousted from the party. In Chhattisgarh too, 50:50 formula was formulated for namesake only. But Bhupesh Baghel never gave up the post of CM. Even now T. S. Singh Dev has not got power there. How can I trust the 50:50 formula even after seeing this? For all these reasons I will be the CM for the first term. Let Siddaramaiah be the CM for the remaining two and a half years. I will sign an agreement on this matter if required. I will write a resignation letter now itself. I am also ready to make ministers of those 20 MLAs that Siddaramaiah wants. Let Siddaramaiah agree and sign this. I am a man of words. It is impossible to question my party loyalty. I don’t want DyCM post. Make me Chief Minister for the first term. Credit my argument as there is a tradition of giving CM title to KPCC President.”
As per sources, this Government would be formed with Siddaramiah being announced as the Chief Minister for the first term and D. K. Shivakunar in the second term.
