Welcome back to “Life of a Techie”! Today, let’s delve into the first day of an IT employee. The excitement and nervousness were at their peak. As the only one in my PG room, I woke up early, got ready, and set out in search of a temple to seek divine blessings. I firmly believe that starting any new work or chapter in life with positivity and blessings is crucial. Afterwards, I called my colleagues who were also selected on the same day, and we decided to go together.
We were a group of five, eagerly waiting outside the office premises, ready to embark on our new roles. Upon entering, we met a new guy at the reception who turned out to be the sixth member of our cohort. Soon after, our HR representative came to welcome us, and to our surprise, the welcome was grand. The entire office was adorned with balloons, as well as cards, and bouquets were handed out. The entire office staff gathered around, clapping and warmly welcoming us. It was a gesture that overwhelmed each one of us with joy.
We began to bond with one another, learning and getting to know each other better. It was fascinating to discover that each of us hailed from different parts of India. We received welcome kits, which were the first gifts from the company. Although it may not sound extravagant now, at the beginning of our careers, every gift brought us immense happiness that cannot be expressed in words.
Throughout the entire first week, our days were filled with meet and greet sessions, learning about the company, its various departments, and making new friends. We also had the opportunity to meet the department heads and learn more about the work being done. While this part may have been boring for me, I believe it was the same for most people. However, one thing that stuck with me was the advice given by the financial head of the company. He emphasised the importance of financial planning and distinguishing between wants and needs. His words resonated with me, and I still follow his advice to this day.
As the second week approached, we eagerly anticipated the start of our technical training. Stay tuned for the next updates!
