Bengaluru: The Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar on May 24 said that, All MLAs should tour their constituencies and congratulate the voters, the five guarantee schemes we have given should be implemented.
Speaking to mediapersons after the Congress Legislature Party meeting, DCM Shivakumar said, “We have suggested that it should be ensured that the eligible beneficiaries get the benefit. Our first priority is to ensure that you are accountable to the people you empower and provide good governance. MLAs should win people’s hearts, Lok Sabha elections are important, forget all hatred and envy and take everyone into confidence.”
All officials and contractors will contact you when you come to power, we have advised them not to get stuck in anything. Training will be given to those elected as MLAs for the first time when the Legislative Assembly is convened again.
When asked about former minister Araga Jnanendra’s statement that the government was going to make the Police Department a Congress team, replying to that DCM Shivakumar said, “I will not answer to Araga Jnanendra or any other leader. The people have already seen their administration and have given an answer to it.”
When asked what kind of saffronisation the police department had become, Shivakumar said, “The Former Chief Minister had supported the saffronisation of the police department and moral police. We will not allow anyone to take the law into their hands. Be it Congressmen or other parties. Law should be protected only by the police. Everyone should follow it. In three or four parts of the state, police officers took off their uniforms and dressed up as political organizations. This is not upholding the Constitution. The Karnataka Police Department has its own dignity. It should be maintained. Priyank Kharge was summoned as head of the media wing of our party when he raised his voice about the biggest corruption in the state? Who else were summoned like this?”. He said that the police should work in a legal manner.
To a question about the Cabinet, he said, “The Chief Minister will expand the cabinet,” he said.
He added that CM has that authority and he will give the answer in this matter.
