Hey there, hope you guys remember what happened in the previous part. The quick recap is that I finished my onboarding and completed my 1st week as a techie without even doing anything!
In the second week of my journey being a techie, we met our trainer for the next six months, who aimed to Mould us into full stack developers capable of working on both front-end (User Interface) and backend (data and APIs). While they may say not to judge a book by its cover, I couldn’t help but feel uncertain about our trainer’s ability to guide us effectively. Initially, the tasks were easy as we delved into front-end development using Angular. However, when it came to more complex questions, our mentor couldn’t provide satisfactory answers.
Fortunately, within our group, we had experts in both UI and programming, as well as backend and data. One of my fellow batchmates, whom we had met during onboarding, possessed exceptional skills in UI and programming. He became our de facto teacher, surpassing our trainer in terms of clarity and explanation. Similarly, another friend from our batch had profound knowledge in backend and data, adding further value to our learning experience. Their expertise and guidance made the learning process more manageable for me.
Nevertheless, I found myself struggling. Unlike the college syllabus where I excelled as a bookworm and top student, this endeavor proved to be more challenging. Self-doubt crept into my mind, questioning my decisions, intelligence, and abilities. It was a disheartening experience, leading me to reconsider my choice of pursuing a career in IT.
Despite these internal battles, we carried on with our training, spending most of our time within the confines of a conference room, isolated from other colleagues. However, this isolation brought our group closer together. We became the best of friends, sharing outings, playful banter, and meals. Those moments became cherished memories, and I drew immense knowledge from each of my friends.
As the training period neared its end, the next phase involved working on projects in pairs. Stay tuned for the continuation of my journey.
