Bengaluru: In one of its initial decisions after taking office, the newly sworn-in Siddaramaiah Government has terminated the employment of the wife of Praveen Nettaru, the slain President of the BJP Yuva Morcha. Following the tragic assassination of BJP Leader Praveen Nettaru, the previous BJP Government had offered a job to his wife as a compassionate measure. However, with the transition to the Congress Government, she has been relieved of her position.
Upon assuming power, the Congress Government nullified all temporary appointments made by the previous administration. As a result, Nettaru’s wife, who was working in the Natural Disaster Department at the District Administration Office in Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner’s office, was dismissed from her job. The Government issued an official order to this effect, effective from last Friday.
Deputy Commissioner Ravikumar confirmed their awareness of the Government’s directive for her dismissal and assured that they would promptly submit a proposal to the State Government, urging her reinstatement.
The assassination of BJP leader Praveen Nettaru on July 26, 2022, garnered significant attention not only in the Dakshina Kannada District but also throughout the state. Pro-Hindu activists expressed their outrage towards the former BJP Government, leading to the case being transferred to the National Investigation Agency for a comprehensive investigation.
Nevertheless, considering the circumstances, Praveen Nettaru’s wife had been appointed to a position at the DC’s office in Mangaluru on compassionate grounds. She held the position of Senior Assistant, Group C, on a contractual basis, in accordance with the orders of Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on September 22, 2022.
