The distressing incident was captured in a video, showing a group of men physically assaulting the man and verbally abusing the woman. Derogatory verbal abuses were hurled at the woman solely because she was seen with a Hindu man. The incident unfolded outside Gopika Chats on O. M. B. Road in Chikkaballapura, about 60 kilometres from Bengaluru.
According to the woman’s complaint, as they left the chat place, three men subjected them to verbal abuse and physical assault. The woman mentioned that she had been traveling to Bengaluru for work during her college summer break for the past two months. On that particular day, while returning from the bus stand, she coincidentally ran into a classmate and invited him to join her for a snack at Gopika Chats. The man and the woman are both second-year B.Com students at a college in Chikkaballapura.
The woman recalled that a group of three men followed them to the hotel and continuously stared at them. The situation escalated as they exited the eatery, resulting in physical assault by the three men.
As per the woman’s complaint, the three men threatened her friend and attempted to harm him. Soon, they also followed her all the way to her residence, forcefully demanding an apology.
Following the filed complaint, the Chikkaballapura Police have taken custody of two of them, Saddam (21) and Vaid (20). Police are actively pursuing the third suspect, Imran, who is also claimed to be involved in the incident.
Despite going through such harassment from the three accused, the woman stood up to her friend and did not give up to their demands. She was also courageous to confront them and file a complaint against them.
