Bengaluru: Recently, the Karnataka Congress Government issued an order to invalidate all contract recruitments made during the previous BJP administration’s tenure. This decision directly impacted individuals such as Nuthan Kumari, the wife of Praveen Nettaru. This move by the Congress Government also drew sharp criticism from BJP leaders like Yashpal Suvarna and Nalin Kumar Kateel. In response to these criticisms, the newly-appointed Congress Minister, Ramalinga Reddy, defended the Government’s decision and accused the BJP of betraying Praveen Nettaru’s wife.
Reddy questioned the rationale behind the previous BJP administration’s choice to employ her on a contractual basis instead of giving her a permanent position during their tenure. The same narrative was used by Congress leader Prathibha Kulai in Mangaluru.
As this contentious issue unfolds, the need for transparency, accountability, and fair treatment of individuals in such circumstances cannot be overstated, particularly when dealing with cases that involve compassion and justice. The aftermath of this decision will undoubtedly shape the political landscape and public sentiment in Karnataka, underscoring the importance of responsible governance and fulfilling commitments made to citizens during election campaigns. The coming days will shed further light on the consequences of this move.
Praveen Nettaru lost his life in an alleged murder by members of the now banned, Popular Front of India (PFI). Praveen Nettaru’s murder had created quite a storm in Karnataka. Following the demise of Nuthan’s husband, she was offered employment on compassionate grounds in September of 2022. She assumed a contractual “Group C” position and had been serving at the Mangaluru DC’s office since October 13. The initial recruitment order specified that her employment would align with the Chief Ministership of Basavaraj Bommai or until any revised directives were issued.
