Bengaluru: Actor and Social Activist Chetan responded to actor Kamal Haasan’s statement that “The Kerala Story” was a propaganda movie.
Actor Chetan, who has written about this on his Facebook wall, has responded to Kamal Hassan statement on ‘The Kerala Story’ and said, “I am against propaganda films’. What we oppose politically/ideologically is called propaganda. Can’t ‘Karnan’ and ‘Jai Bheem’ be considered anti-caste or anti-police propaganda? He said that for a strong democracy, different ideologies should also exist.
Actor Kamal Haasan, who was present at the film award ceremony held in Abu Dhabi, said, “I have been opposing the movie The Kerala Story. They also opposed me for that. It is not enough to say that the movie is based on a true incident.” He expressed his displeasure that there should be truth in it.
Many have already argued that the story of the movie ‘The Kerala Story’ is bogus. They have argued that women have not been radicalised in Islam to the extent they have said. In this regard, the film team held a media conference and brought the victims there. The film team revealed each one’s story in front of the media.
When the trailer of The Kerala Story was released, it was said that a total of 32,000 young women were converted. After there was widespread criticism about the number, the number issue was dropped from the movie itself. However, the film team had claimed that a large number of conversion had taken place. Director Sudipto Sen brought 26 young women to the media conference held a few days ago.
