Bengaluru: In Namma Metro, not only the number of smart card and token users, but also the number of passengers showing QR code including chatbot is increasing significantly. More than 7 lakh people are using this technology on a monthly average.
There were only 2.17 lakh users of this QR code system which started in November. Now it has quadrupled to 8.25 lakh in just 4 months. From November to the end of April, the number of travelers using the QR code and WhatsApp chatbot is 31.80 lakh. Along with this, an average of 25,000 people are using this model regularly.
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) officials say this is a testament to Silicon City’s response to advanced technology.
2,17,708 people were using the QR code in November, the first month of the system’s launch, which increased to 4,39,502 in December. Similarly, 5,21,320 people in January, 5,21,320 in February, 6,63,956 in March and 8,25,424 in April are taking advantage of the QR code scanner, according to the Public Relations Department of the corporation. Queuing or retail problem should be faced while taking a token. Smart Cards or passes are sometimes misplaced and lost. As a solution to various problems like this, BMRCL has launched a new model QR code based ticketing that allows you to get tickets on your mobile. Now thousands of people are using it daily.
This system also opens the gate by showing the QR code of the ticket paid and downloaded in our Metro, Paytm and Yatra applications to the scanner installed at the arrivals and departures. From this you can get a 5% discount similar to the discount in smart card. In addition, this system is also very useful during emergency. BMRCL officials are confident that more people are expected to use it in the coming days.
Due to the election frenzy in the last three months, related conventions and IPL T20 matches, the number of metro passengers has increased and of course the revenue has also increased.
Last February, 1.46 Crore people travelled and earned Rs. 34.89 Crore revenue. Similarly, BMRCL officials say that 1.60 Crore people travelled in March and collected Rs. 123.76 Crore and in April 1.71 Crore people traveled and collected Rs. 136.87 Crore.
