Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is now planning to make strategy through as the BJP is deciding to increase the reservation for SC/ST communities. As the Lok Sabha elections are nearing, Siddu has planned strategy to put pressure on the Central Government about reservation.
CM Siddaramaiah knows that the Central Government will be forced to include the increased reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in education and employment in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution.
Siddaramaiah has been praised by the delegation of the pontiffs of Backward Classes and Dalit Communities on June 6. He said the previous BJP Government hastily increased reservation as an election gimmick. Despite the implementation of the Act on increasing reservation, two days before the announcement of the election, a proposal was sent to the Centre to include it in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution.
The previous Government created confusion in the reservation of Backward Classes and under the pretext of providing reservation within Scheduled Castes. As a result of ignoring the advice given by him to take all communities into confidence and create internal reservation, but he faced opposition from various communities. Without a commitment to social justice, such confusions arise. The Jana Sangh and the BJP have always had an anti-reservation stance. Now increasing the reservation is a political gimmick, said Siddaramaiah and added that one should be careful about the same.
Our Government will rectify all confusions in reservation. People have given Congress party a chance again in Karnataka. People want change. They have lost faith in the previous Government, he said and clarified that the Congress Government has always been a secular party and whether in power or not, there is no compromise on the stand of social justice.
Due to historical reasons, equality needs to be created by eliminating inequality by providing opportunity to the deprived for centuries. In this regard earlier our Government through the Permanent Backward Classes Commission conducted a caste wise social, educational and economic survey at a cost of Rs.162 Crore. Previous governments were reluctant to accept the survey report. Now our Government will accept this report, he said and added that based on the material condition, the people will be provided necessary facilities in various sectors like education, employment, industry etc.
Our Government is in favour of all classes. Earlier we had implemented programmes like Annabhagya, Ksheerabhagya, Indira Canteen etc. Currently implementing 5 guarantee schemes. We are spending Rs. 59,000 Crore for this, CM Siddaramaiah said and added that it will be an annual cost.
