Instagram is reportedly set to introduce its own AI-based chatbot that will provide users with Various functionalities, according to mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi. Paluzzi, known for his expertise in reverse-engineering Instagram’s code to anticipate future developments, revealed that the chatbot will be capable of answering questions, offering advice, and even assisting with message composition. Users will apparently have the option to select from 30 different personalities for the AI agents.
Instagram has yet to issue an official statement on the incident. It’s worth mentioning that Snapchat launched its own ChatGPT-powered chatbot, My AI, earlier this year, to mixed reviews. Some customers were concerned about the chatbot interfering with their entire platform experience and accessing sensitive information, such as their location.
Instagram’s parent company, Meta, has previously stated that it intends to investigate the application of AI across its services, including Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has stated that the company’s long-term goal is to create AI avatars that can help people in a variety of ways. In the case of Instagram, the emphasis is on enhancing filters and adverts through the use of artificial intelligence.
Meta has also been using AI techniques to increase its advertising revenue. One of these solutions, Advantage+, automates ad distribution and targeting across all Meta platforms, assisting advertisers in reaching specified consumers. In addition, the company is working on an AI-powered platform that will let advertisers produce and test commercials more successfully.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced the development of a specialised product team at the highest level within the firm, with the goal of explicitly advancing generative artificial intelligence (AI). Zuckerberg wrote on Facebook, “We’re establishing a new top-level product group at Meta with a strong focus on generative AI to accelerate our progress in this domain.”
In a separate development, Instagram is gearing up to challenge Twitter, led by Elon Musk, by introducing a micro-blogging text platform of its own. The platform, known as “Instagram’s new text-based app for conversations,” is expected to be launched by the end of June. According to the newsletter by Lia Haberman on ICYMI Substack, the project has been internally referred to as P92 or Barcelona.
