Bengaluru: A Special Court of People’s Representatives has issued an order to confiscate the assets of Kalyana Rajya Pragati Party MLA Gangavathi, Former Minister Janardhana Reddy and his wife Lakshmi Aruna Reddy.
A special court has issued an order to confiscate more than 100 properties till the completion of the criminal case. The CBI had filed an application in the court seeking the seizure of a total of 124 properties belonging to Janardhana Reddy. During the investigation, CBI found more than hundred properties including site, building and vacant land.
Reddy bought 219 new properties in Telangana states with alleged illegal mining money. On August 30, 2022, the CBI had requested the Government to give permission to confiscate these assets.
After receiving no response from the Government, the CBI filed an application in the High Court. The Government had not given any reply to the CBI application.
Reddy tried to sell the properties in Kurnool and Rangareddy Districts when he came to know about the application for confiscation of property. The CBI had argued in the High Court that the Government should be ordered to allow confiscation of assets after learning about this matter.
Is this how you work? Why no action has been taken even after five months? Not making a decision in your eyes may be a move, High Court issued a whipping notice to the state Government asking it to give its opinion on this. In January this year, the then Bommai Government allowed the confiscation of Reddy’s property after the High Court struck down the case.
