Videos circulating online captured the moment when chandeliers and ceiling fans swung back and forth due to the tremors, showcasing the intensity of the earthquake.
It’s worth mentioning that a 5.2 magnitude earthquake in Afghanistan triggered a small tremor in Delhi just last month.
There have been no indications of serious damage or injuries as of yet as a result of today’s earthquake. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of residents in the affected areas.
The quake was 60 kilometres deep, with the centre 99 kilometres north of Pathankot in Northern India, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). A local based in Srinagar spoke to ANI and said “The earthquake scared school children. People in shops rushed out. It was scary. This was more intense than the tremors last week.”
