Mumbai: Disturbing details are emerging out of Mumbai’s sensational Mira Road Murder where a 56-year-old man arrested for not only allegedly killing his 32-year-old live-in partner but also dismembering her body, last week. The accused, Manoj Sane allegedly chopped off victim Saraswati Vaidya’s body and roasted and boiled the body parts in cooker to dispose them.
Police discovered decomposing body parts in the man’s rented apartment, leading them to suspect that the murder took place two to three days prior they found out.
It is reported that the accused used to assault the partner and now the police are questioning the victim’s sisters, of these allegations. Saraswathi and her sisters were allegedly abandoned by their father after their mother’s death. Saraswathi studied up to 10th standard before moving to Mumbai from Ahemdabad to stay with relatives. She met the accused Sane at his ration shop and that’s how their friendship blossomed. He reportedly helped her with finding a job of salesperson. She began staying with Sane after he promised to help her clear Maths exam.
Police investigating into the case have now stumbled upon the fact that both Manoj and Saraswati were not live-in partners but were married couple. And her sisters were aware of this. It’s still not clear why Sane murdered her.
The incident came to light after residents of the building reported a bad odour originating from the couple’s flat to the Nayanagar Police Station. When the police entered the flat, they discovered the woman’s mutilated body. Manoj Sane was apprehended right away.
According to Jayant Bajbale, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1), they are investigating the purpose for the murder as well as the manner in which it was carried out. Authorities suspect Sane mutilated the body in order to dispose of it. Some body parts are still missing, and authorities believe the accused may have disposed off them somewhere.
A forensic team has been dispatched to the crime scene to collect samples and evidence. An FIR has been filed against Sane for murder and evidence destruction.
According to authorities, the pair remained to themselves and did not engage with other building occupants. The flat door does not contain their names and is registered in the name of Sonam Builders. The probe is still going on.
