Mysuru: A man from the city has cheated a Bengaluru-based software engineer into marriage by posting a false profile on a matrimony website claiming to be a doctor. A case has been registered in the Kuvempu Nagar Police Station of the city and the police have started an investigation.
A 45-year-old software engineer from Bengaluru has registered a case of fraud against K. B. Mahesh (46), a resident of SBM layout of the city.
A software engineer woman was looking for a groom in a matrimony to get married. At this time, Mahesh sent a request and introduced himself that he is an Ortho DNB doctor and resides in Mysuru. Later he expressed his desire to get married. Later they were in contact through mobile phones and met each other for the first time at a juice shop near Marathalli in Bengaluru. After a few days, Mahesh called the woman to Mysuru and said that he would open a clinic in the fourth phase of Vijayanagar. Then the woman married him at Visakhapatnam in Telangana. The next day, both came to Mysuru. Then Mahesh left the house saying that hehas to do an operation in Bengaluru. After three days he came back and allegedly demanded woman to get him a loan of Rs. 70 Lakh to open clinic. When the woman refused to take loan, threatened her of dire consequences and also kill her.
Besides, he fled after taking Rs. 15 Lakh cash and 20 sovereign gold from the house. The woman complained that the phone was switched off when she called later. Meanwhile, another woman from Bengaluru also came to Mahesh’s house in RT Nagar and told that he had cheated her by marrying her. Realising that she has been cheated, the software engineer filed a complaint at the Kuvempu Nagar Police Station.
The defrauded woman alleged that Mahesh’s job was to meet rich women through matrimony, marry them believing make them believe that he is rich, and then steal valuables including money and gold from them. The victim has demanded that the police investigate the matter. The police have laid a trap to arrest Mahesh, who is currently absconding.
