The 2019 release Maithili film Gamak Ghar directed by Aachal Mishra, received a positive response from the audience. The film has been primarily screened in Mumbai, and New York Film festivals.
The plot revolves around an ancestral house that undergoes structural changes in three decades. It focuses on family dynamics between the generations.
Audience give it a thumbs up
Media student Hanushya said, “Gamak Ghar is a beautiful movie. The movie tells the tale of how the authenticity in the family is lost when the generations move out to the city in search of employment opportunities. The film began with half frames, and as the generations changed, the frame ratio increased, ending with full-screen frames. The movie didn’t have any exaggerations. It was presented as realistic as possible. It had minimalistic dialogues.”
Movie enthusiast Meghalok said, “The film depicted a village lifestyle. Gamak Ghar was a reminder to the present generation about their roots and where they actually belong. The cinematic shots were beautiful.”
