Bengaluru: A tragedy occurred at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. More than 10 passengers were injured in a bus accident at the airport. The shuttle bus from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 was picking up passengers from T2 on June 18 morning. In this case, the accident occurred due to the negligence of the driver.
The front of the bus was completely damaged in the accident. Fortunately, the passengers escaped with only minor injuries. The injured are being treated at the airport’s private hospital.
Kempegowda Police has registered a case and investigation is on.
Sources within the airport have indicated that the driver could have allegedly dozed off leading to the accident.
According to a statement released by the Airport authorities, 15 passengers were onboard the bus in addition to two crew members. The injured have been taken to the hospital for immediate medical treatment and five were discharged after a medical examination.
“At approximately 5.15 am on June 18, a shuttle bus operating between T1 and T2 of Bengaluru Airport collided with a pole near the T2 Arrival exit road, resulting in injuries to 10 people. There was a total of 17 passengers (15 pax and 2 staff) who were onboard the bus. The injured were taken to a hospital for immediate medical attention,” the Bengaluru airport spokesperson said.
In another incident reported, where the police arrested a passenger who was smoking in the toilet of the flying plane and created anxiety. Praveen Kumar is the arrested accused. The accused, who was coming from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru, violated the rules in the flight. Praveen Kumar was arrested at KIAB and the airport police registered a case.
In another case, Shehari Chaudhary, a passenger coming from Assam to Bengaluru, had lit a cigarette in the toilet of the plane and caused concern. The incident took place at around 01:30 am on the Indigo flight 6E 716.
The crew of the flight had checked the smoke and smell in the lavatory of the plane. At this time, it came to light that the passenger was smoking a cigarette. Therefore, the airline staff handed over the passenger to the security forces as soon as he arrived in Bengaluru.
