Bengaluru: All India Congress Committee General Secretary K. C. Venugopal has said in a recent news conference that Siddaramaiah will remain as Chief Minister of Karnataka for five years.
As soon as this statement came out many ministers from CM Siddu’s Cabinet including Industries Minister M. B. Patil, Social Welfare Minister H. C. Mahadevappa and Public Works Minister Satish Jarakiholi stood with the statement of K. C. Venugopal.
There were also public spat between MP D. K. Suresh and Minister M. B. Patil at the Vidhana Soudha following a recent Cabinet meeting, where the two were said to have had an angry exchange of words.
The Minister Mahadevappa, said in Mysuru that Siddaramaiah will continue as Chief Minister. “He is the chief Minister. He will continue as Chief Minister,” he had added.
Jarakiholi said that Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister and nobody had said that he (his tenure) was the CM for half the term. He will likely continue as the Chief minizster, he asserted.
All these statements are against the Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar’s dream of becoming the Chief Minister. D. K. Shivakumar had really worked hard for the victory of Congress party in the Assembly polls of Karnataka.
It is sure that even DKS may remain silent but his brother MP D. K. Suresh seems to not tolerate these developments. Already he is replying sharply, and said “I don’t know why M. B. Patil is making such remarks. He is a mature leader with a lot of ideologies and his own political strength. He is working as a senior Minister now. I think he is more interested in other issues than working as a Minister. That’s why he could be saying those things. What more can I say?”
I don’t know why Congress is making such statements too early. Do they think it is very easy to deny DKS from becoming CM and continuing Siddu as CM for five years?, he noted.
Will this enrage DKS or will he obey party’s decision? Only time will answer all these questions.
