Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meetings in US during his visit has become a focal point of people’s interest. According to insiders, his meetings in US is lined up to gather insights into the newest developments in the United States and to explore potential collaborations. Along with CEO of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, the Prime Minister met astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, economist Paul Romer, statistician Nicholas Nassim Taleb, and investor Ray Dalio.
Indian-American musician Falu Shah, author and scholar Jeff Smith, former US trade ambassador Michael Froman, diplomat Daniel Russel, and defence specialist Elbridge Colby also met the PM.
In addition, the Prime Minister has had talks with Dr. Peter Agre, a physician as well as Nobel laureate, and healthcare specialist as well as Indian-American businesswoman and artist Chandrika Tandon.
Particularly, PM’s meet with Tesla CEO Elon Musk has piqued everyone’s interest.
His interest to do business with India and he expressing being a fan of Modi has made headlines in the last couple of days. This meeting was significant since it was the first meeting between the two powerful people since Musk’s acquisition of Twitter.
Previously, the Prime Minister and Musk met in 2015 during Modi’s visit to the Tesla Motors factory in California. Musk, on the other hand, did not own Twitter at the time.
This meeting came at a crucial juncture as Tesla is actively exploring potential locations for establishing its factory in India. In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Musk expressed his interest in the Indian market, stating, “Absolutely.” He further mentioned that the company is likely to finalise the location for its India factory by the end of this year.
The Prime Minister left for the United States on June 20, on a coveted State Visit, a privilege granted by Washington DC to its closest allies. Highlights of his schedule includes addressing a joint session of the US Congress, meeting with business leaders and Indian expats, and attending a state banquet hosted by US President Joe Biden at the White House.
Enhancing trade and defense ties will be key focal points during this landmark trip, underscoring the importance of bilateral relations between the two nations.
