Bengaluru: The selection of the Leader of the Opposition has been considered a huge task to the BJP High Command. Even though the state Assembly session has started, it has not been possible to come to a firm decision on the selection of the leader of the Opposition.
Former CM B. S. Yediyurappa held a separate meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and National President J. P. Nadda on July 2 night regarding the selection of the Leader of the Opposition. In the meeting, B. S. Yediyurappa is said to be in favour of former CM Basavaraj Bommai and Former Home Minister Araga Gyanendra.
He has opposed the selection of Basanagowda Patil Yatnal and Aravinda Bellad, while he has no Opposition for the selection of Sunil Kumar and Aswath Narayan. It is learned that the BSY has advised the seniors to finally take the decision by themselves.
Home Minister Amit Shah, who got the Opinion of BSY, decided to send two observers to the state, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Vinod Tawade. They will gather developments from the MLAs regarding the selection of the Leader of the Opposition and the State President and forward it to the High Command. Based on this, the High Command will take the final decision.
Speaking after the meeting, BSY said that the Opposition leader will not be announced on July 3. It may take another three or four days, observers will come and collect information, hee said and added that I have expressed my opinion and they will call me again if necessary.
