Mangaluru: In the backdrop of the ongoing heavy rainfall in the Dakshina Kannada (DK) District, Deputy Commissioner M. P. Mullai Muhilan has declared a holiday for schools and colleges in DK on July 7. With this, the educational institutions of the District will remain closed for 4 days, consecutively due to rains.
As Orange alert has been declared by the Indian Meteorological Department until July 8 as heavy rains have been predicted. All the local authorities have been asked to be in station in order to tackle any emergency that may arise due to rains and take any action regarding the holiday declaration at the local level.
The coastal region has been reeling under incessant rains with gushing winds for last 4 days throwing normal life our of gear.
