Bengaluru: A silent protest has been organised at Independence Park on July 12 from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm to condemn the conspiracy of BJP to end the political life of Rahul Gandhi, said Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar.
Speaking to mediapersons, DyCM Shivakumar said, “I, Chief Minister and AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala along with all Ministers, MPs, MLAs, activists, Block Congress, Frontline Unit Presidents, Councilors will participate in this protest.”
He said, Rahul Gandhi has never threatened the pride of the country. There is a conspiracy going on in the state to finish him off politically by using his speech and we condemn it. The entire country and the opposition parties need to send a message that Rahul Gandhi, who is raising his voice for the country and for the truth, will stand by him, he said.
The love and trust he got from the people in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, and the great success he got in the Karnataka state, overnight disqualified him from being a member of Parliament. The party won in all the constituencies along the route he traveled in the state. Next, he was advised to travel from the east to the west of the country, and the BJP could not bear his success and popularity and hatched this conspiracy, added DyCM.
He said, therefore, it has been decided to hold a silent protest in all major centres of the country under the leadership of AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge. I hereby request that all party workers in the state should participate in this protest, he noted.
A meeting of the leaders of the Opposition parties will be held in Bengaluru on July 17 and 18, AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge has invited UPA President Sonia Gandhi to participate in the meeting, and a message has been received that she will also participate. We welcome the leaders of all the Opposition parties of the country who are participating in this meeting.
In response to a question regarding the cancellation of Muslim reservation, he said, “Major newspapers have thoroughly studied and reported on this issue today, and we will discuss this issue at length. After getting the appropriate information, I will inform the government’s opinion.”
When asked about the fact that most of the states were not interested in buying rice in the Food Corporation of India auction, he said, “We are not asking for rice at free of cost. Our rice is not going anywhere. We are investing according to the guidance of the opposition party. They are giving us guidance and warning, and we should respect their advice and opinion,” he said.
When asked about Indira’s canteen visit, he said, “I will write a letter to all MLAs and suggest that they should visit Indira’s canteen once a week and inspect it.” I thought that I should also visit the rest house in Dasarahalli. It has been reported that it has been closed. I will visit different areas in the coming days,” he said.
