Bengaluru: The Jayanagar MLA C. K. Ramamurthy and Zonal Commissioner Jayaram Raipur on July 13 visited and inspected the dry waste collection unit located near M. S. Building and Ragi Gudda in the city’s South Zone Jayanagar Assembly Constituency.
It has been 50 years since the M. S. Building got constructed by the Slum Board in the BBMP land in Tilaknagar area of Jayanagar Assembly Constituency, MLA and Zonal Commissioners visited the place along with the concerned officials and listened to the grievances of the residents.
Over 50 years ago, M. S. Building was constructed by the slum board on the corporation land and there are 64 houses in the said building. Khata’s were allocated to the residents living in 64 houses by the Corporation and the officials were instructed to check the condition of the building and carry out necessary repair works.
Since the M. S. Building is 50 years old, it will be cleared and a grant was earmarked to construct a building at the same place. However, the residents living in the building need enough time to clear the building and construct it. In this regard, all the families residing in the existing building appealed to give vacant site. The Zonal Commissioner responded to this and instructed the officials to review and prepare a proposal in accordance with the rules regarding giving a site to the residents living in the MS building.
The Zonal Commissioner visited and inspected the dry waste storage unit near Ragi Gudda slum and instructed the officials to maintain the dry waste storage unit properly.
In the same place, around 2 acres of BBMP land has been illegally encroached and sheds have been built and they are living there. Among these, he instructed to clear the unauthorised encroachments and construct a park and playground.
