Karnataka elections this time, had been a talk of the town throughout the country. And now, it is the time for ‘session of the house’, to gain it’s social media fame. There held a heathy remarkable and a tight session this term, marking a greater milestone about the duty of an Opposition.
But, imagine how bad a situation can turn, if the House is dominated by a child rather than it’s parents? It is parents who by power, experience and the position coronate a higher rank. It becomes rude and indecent for a child to humiliate them and speak low about them as they are the guardians of the house. So, is the power of Speaker in the houses likeLlok Sabha, Rajyasabha, Vidhana Sabha and Vidhana Parishad.
The Speaker is one such elected member of the house, who is more powerful than the Chief Minister. And so wilful disobedience and disrespect is not appreciable in any form of Government system. The ongoing Assembly of Karnataka too witnessed one such unparliamentary nature, the act of disrespecting the seat of the speaker.
Speaker, is and should be an impartial member who belongs to no parties inspite of being elected from a party. In a Democratic India, we also have examples of the speakers who resigned to their party positions in order to give justice to the post which they hold, the post of being impartial and justful. As the idiom goes, “There can be a bad human but not a bad mother”, so is the position which Parliament gives as well as expects from the seat of the Speaker. It is not because of an individual the seat gets its position but it is the seat, which gives individual her/his position. And so, it becomes must on all the members of the House to oblige by the words of the Speaker.
The position and the power of every member of the House is to be guarded by the Speaker and it is the duty of the Speaker. From maintaining the decorum of the house to making sure of not a single right of the parliamentarian is deceived, is looked after by the Speaker. So, it becomes necessary for the current members of the house to respect the position not just by the regards but by acts too. And on Speaker to maintain the decorum of the seat by being justful. Overall, setting a better example for the upcoming generation on an honourable parliamentary behaviour.
