Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on July 22 assured that the Government would frame an industrial policy encouraging exports.
Addressing the gathering at the state export excellent awarding event organised by Vishwesharaya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC) of the Industries and Commerce department at the Banquet hall in Vidhana Soudha, CM Siddaramaiah said that the Government would focus on being industry-friendly and investment friendly.
Chief Minister said that industrial development would help to reduce unemployment by creating economic opportunities. The Skill Development Department would be strengthened to ensure providing training to youth to make them more employable, he remarked.
Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar called on industrialists to set up their enterprises in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. Saying, this would enable even growth across the state, he added that the Government would encourage setting up industries in tier 2 and tier 3 cities by granting additional incentives and rebates. This would help to mitigate the woes of Bengaluru which is already overloaded with a huge 1.3 crore population, he opined.
Shivakumar also said that the Government was considering establishing a dedicated NRI Department as assured in the party manifesto.
Large and Medium Industries Minister M. B. Patil said that measures such as introducing transparency in the single window system, and speedy clearing of land acquisition dispute cases in KIADB have been given priority to facilitate the growth of industries. He claimed that MSME
sector which generates more jobs will be given a boost by setting up CFCs (common facility centres).
A total of 68 industries under 12 categories were presented with excellent export awards for the years 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20. The state-level selection committee had received as many as 208 applications from across the state. The awardees included Biocon, HAL, Toyota Kirloskar, and GE India Pvt. Ltd, Mysuru Paints and Varnish, and Gokaldas Exports among others.
