Mangaluru: In a groundbreaking event that combined fashion, inclusivity, and advocacy, Snehalaya Psycho-social Centre for Men and Women hosted a fashion show aimed at empowering individuals with mental health challenges. The event, titled “Snehalaya Fashion Fest,” took place at Snehalaya Auditorium on July 29. The show was organised by Snehalaya Charitable Trust, a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and breaking down the stigmas associated with mental health conditions. The main aim was to provide a platform for individuals with mental health challenges to showcase their talents, boost their self-confidence, and raise awareness about mental health issues.
From the very beginning, the event emphasised inclusivity and diversity. A wide range of models of all ages, genders, body types, and ethnicities participated in the show. Designers also joined hands with the cause and presented a diverse array of outfits, embracing a variety of styles and inspirations.
The show was inaugurated by A. K. M. Ashraf, MLA Manjeshwaram Constituency, along with Joseph Crasta, Executive Director of Snehalaya Charitable Trust. Guests from various realms of society were present for the event, namel Gean Lavina Monteiro – President, Manjeshwar Grama Panchayat, V. J. As the event concluded, it left a lasting impact on the audience and participants alike. The collective effort to break down barriers and empower individuals with mental health challenges through fashion resonated with many. The hope is that this event will inspire similar initiatives worldwide and continue to foster understanding and support for mental health causes.
