It is stated that, kulfis have history of 500 years, dating back to it’s origin in 16th century. Mughals who had certain parts of their territorial regime filled with ice, snow and glaciers, utilised animals and boat to commute to the Himalayas and bring ice to the cities of Delhi and Lahore. This is how Kulfi went through the process of refrigeration even before the invention of modern refrigerators, it is stated.
