Bengaluru: Aam Aadmi Party State President, Mukhyamantri Chandru met the President of the Permanent Backward Class Commission, Jayaprakash Hegde in the city on August 1.
“The Government has created several programmes for the development of backward castes and communities. It is unreasonable that the detailed report given by the commission led by H. Kantharaju in 2015 is not published yet. People believed that this report from the commission has given details about the educational and social status of every caste and community in the state. By not presenting this report, not only the state treasury has suffered a loss but it is an injustice to the people from the backward class.”
“The honourable Supreme Court has said in K. C. Vasanth Kumar’s case that the education facilities for backward, scheduled caste and scheduled tribe mist of comparable standards. Also in the Indira Sahani case, the court had ordered that the entire population must be subjected to a survey to identify the socially and educationally backward people. We have brought to the notice of the commission that the decision given by the high court in this regard is not being followed,” Mukhyamantri Chandru said.
“The Congress Government in 2015, the coalition Government formed in 2018 and the subsequent BJP Government did not present the report due to political interest. This act is against the welfare of hard workers and the backward classes. A few days ago the Chief Minister proposed in a public meeting that the report will be presented and implemented soon. Therefore, Mukhyamantri Chandru demanded that all the processes of presenting the report should be completed without giving any reason before the Gram Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat and local bodies elections in the state.”
