Bengaluru: A survey conducted by the Karnataka School Examination and Evaluation Board under the Department of School Education has expressed dissatisfaction over the academic growth.
A report of the Learning Sadhana Survey has now come out according to which it has been reported that academic growth has slowed down instead of growth. The state Learning Sadhana Survey report for 2022-23 has revealed that there has been a decline in the education of high school students than that of primary school students.
A total of 2,11,843 students of classes 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10 from 2,618 government primary and 694 high schools in the state were used for the survey.
It is sad to note that there has been a significant decline in learning and performance of these students in 2022-23 as compared to the State Learning Achievement Survey for 2018-19. The learning achievement of class 8 students was just 51 per cent, that of class 9 student was 50 per cent and that of class 10 student was 55 per cent.
A major drop has been recorded in Mathematics and Science subjects, with class 5 students achieving 79 per cent in Science in 2018-19. It came down to 37 per cent when it reached Class 9. Students of the same group are said to have scored 73 marks in Mathematics.
